Microwave-assisted synthesis and electrochemical characterization of TiNb2O7 microspheres as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries

Karan Kumar Gupta et al.

Summary: TiNb2O7 microspheres are successfully prepared using a microwave-assisted solvothermal method, resulting in highly crystalline powders with uniformly distributed microspheres. The microwave irradiation reduces the compound formation temperature and enhances the Li+-ion diffusion coefficient, leading to improved battery performance. The microwave-assisted solvothermal TiNb2O7 sample exhibits higher discharge capacity, excellent rate capabilities, and superior capacity retention compared to samples prepared via conventional solvothermal methods.

FeNb11O29, anode material for high-power lithium-ion batteries: Pseudocapacitance and symmetrisation unravelled with advanced electrochemical and in situ/operando techniques

Daniele Spada et al.

Summary: Niobium-based oxides as new anode materials for advanced LIBs have gained increasing attention for their high theoretical capacities and working potential, which can prevent safety risks in batteries. The study of FeNb11O29's structural and electrochemical features reveals its excellent characteristics for high-power density LIBs with potential wide applications. The symmetrisation of the octahedral framework after the reduction of Nb5+ cations seems to be the key of the electrochemistry of FeNb11O29.

Ten Thousand-Cycle Ultrafast Energy Storage of Wadsley-Roth Phase Fe-Nb Oxides with a Desolvation Promoting Interfacial Layer

Yang Yang et al.

Summary: The nitridation layer designed on the surface of Wadsley-Roth phase FeNb11O29 can efficiently improve the adsorption and desolvation of solvated Li+, reduce the energy barrier, prevent solvent cointercalation, and reduce volume change of lattice cell during cycling. As a result, FNO-x@N exhibits a high-rate capacity of 129.7 mAh g(-1) with negligible capacity decay for 10,000 cycles.
