Neurophysiology of predictable unpleasant event processing in preadolescents and early adolescents, part I: Event-related potential markers of unpleasant image anticipation and processing

Christopher T. Sege et al.

Summary: This article examines potential changes in the processing of predictable events during the childhood-to-adolescence transition. The study finds that children show enhanced processing of predicted scary content, but unlike adults, they show reduced anticipatory processing of scary images in predictable contexts.

An Investigation of Olfactory-Enhanced Video on EEG-Based Emotion Recognition

Minchao Wu et al.

Summary: This study developed a novel experimental paradigm that allows odors to dynamically participate in different stages of video-evoked emotions, and investigated the efficiency of olfactory-enhanced videos in inducing subjects' emotions. The results showed that olfactory-enhanced videos significantly outperformed traditional videos in emotion recognition and were more effective in evoking negative emotions.

Differences in frontal EEG asymmetry during emotion regulation between high and low mindfulness adolescents

Xinmei Deng et al.

Summary: The study found that high mindfulness adolescents exhibited greater left frontal EEG asymmetry during emotion regulation compared to low mindfulness adolescents. Additionally, adolescents showed greater right frontal EEG asymmetry for negative stimuli compared to neutral stimuli in the up-regulating condition.

Multichannel Optimization With Hybrid Spectral- Entropy Markers for Gender Identification Enhancement of Emotional-Based EEGs

Noor Kamal Al-Qazzaz et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the influence of emotions on gender behavior using EEG signals and optimization algorithms for automatic gender recognition. Results show that linear and nonlinear features are significant neuromarkers for exploring gender-based differences in emotional states. The proposed methods effectively enhance the accuracy of automatic gender recognition from emotional-based EEG signals.
