Photo-Adjustable TiO2-Paper as a Smart Substrate for Paper-Based Analytical Devices

Zhenzhu He et al.

Summary: A simple and novel method has been developed for preparing photo-adjustable muPADs using the photocatalytic properties of TiO2. By utilizing UV irradiation, flow channels can be quickly generated and edited on a superhydrophobic TiO2-paper substrate, allowing for the fabrication of various 2D and 3D muPADs for specific applications. This novel substrate also enables easy bleaching of residual organics and biological specimens on muPADs via TiO2-assited degradation under UV or sunlight, reducing the risk of potential environmental pollution and disease transmission.
