Fragility analysis of a prestressed concrete containment vessel subjected to internal pressure via the probability density evolution method

Xiaodan Ren et al.

Summary: The fragility analysis of the prestressed concrete containment vessel (PCCV) is conducted using the probability density evolution method (PDEM). The results show that the fragility of the PCCV is zero until the internal pressure reaches a certain threshold, after which it increases rapidly.

Fragility analysis and probabilistic safety performance evaluation of nuclear containment structure under local prestressed tendons fracture conditions

Song Jin et al.

Summary: This study presents fragility analysis and probabilistic safety performance evaluation of nuclear containment structure under prestressed tendon fracture conditions based on a detailed three-dimensional finite element model and reasonable constitutive model. The influence of hoop prestressed tendons is found to be greater than that of vertical prestressed tendon, and the equipment hatch is identified as the most vulnerable location. The impact of fracturing of the prestressed tendons on the ultimate pressure capacity of the nuclear containment structure is small.

Time-dependent reliability analysis of the reactor building of a nuclear power plant for accounting of its aging and degradation

Di Maio Francesco et al.

Summary: This paper adopts a time-dependent reliability approach to explicitly model aging and degradation of the nuclear power plant's reactor building, quantifying the risk of failure over time. By coupling a Finite Element Model with a degradation model, the study provides risk measures based on condition monitoring data, exemplified by a case study of an internal overpressure due to a hydrogen explosion.

A simplified method for probabilistic seismic risk evaluation of nuclear containment structure

Song Jin et al.

Summary: The study proposes an innovative energy-based global damage index based on the seismic energy balance concept, and a simplified method for calculating the annual frequency of exceedance of nuclear containment structures. Results show that the proposed global damage index can accurately reflect the global deformation characteristics of the nuclear containment structure and has smaller variability compared to the traditional roof displacement based damage index.

Fragility analysis and probabilistic performance evaluation of nuclear containment structure subjected to internal pressure

Song Jin et al.

Summary: This study conducted fragility analysis and probabilistic performance evaluation of the nuclear containment structure based on a detailed finite element model, proposing a method for constructing confidence intervals and analyzing the impact of uncertainties. Statistical uncertainty had some effects on the variability of fragility parameters but almost no effect on the mean value.
