Wide-bandwidth triboelectric energy harvester combining impact nonlinearity and multi-resonance method

Chaoyang Zhao et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel wide-bandwidth triboelectric energy harvester (WBTEH) that utilizes impact nonlinearity and multi-resonance. The WBTEH features a triboelectric transducer with two cantilever beams of different resonant frequencies connected to it, operating in contact and separation mode. Through the relative motion of the beams, the WBTEH achieves a broad bandwidth by causing resonance shift through impact and multi-resonance. A prototype of the WBTEH with a 3 mm gap demonstrates a total bandwidth of 4.3 Hz even at low base excitation. The WBTEH shows excellent stability and the ability to power wireless sensors, making it a potential candidate for IoT applications.
