Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals the regulatory mechanisms of two tropical water lilies in response to cold stress

Xiangyu Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigated the response mechanisms of tropical water lily to cold stress using physiological and transcriptomic analysis. Nymphaea rubra was more susceptible to cold stress, exhibiting leaf edge curling and chlorosis. Nymphaea lotus showed higher soluble sugar content and antioxidant enzyme activity, indicating a stronger tolerance to cold stress.

Abiotic stress responses in plants

Huiming Zhang et al.

Summary: Plants face abiotic stresses like drought, salinity, and extreme temperatures, which greatly impact their distribution, growth, and crop productivity. Recent research has revealed the complex molecular mechanisms involved in plants' responses to these stresses, including sensing, signaling, transcription, translation, and post-translational modifications. This knowledge can be utilized to enhance crop resilience and sustainability through genetic, chemical, and microbial approaches.

Genome-Wide Identification of Strawberry C2H2-ZFP C1-2i Subclass and the Potential Function of FaZAT10 in Abiotic Stress

Hao Li et al.

Summary: C2H2-type zinc finger proteins play a crucial role in plant processes and responses to environmental stresses. This study identified 126 C2H2-ZFPs in strawberry and characterized 46 members with two zinc finger domains. These genes were unevenly distributed on chromosomes and classified into five groups based on phylogenetic relationship. Evolutionary analysis showed conservation of this gene subclass. Additionally, a specific C2H2-ZFP, FaZAT10, was isolated and found to be responsive to various abiotic stresses. These findings provide valuable information for further analysis of the ZFP gene family in strawberry and shed light on the regulatory mechanism of FaZAT10 in abiotic stress.

Genome-Wide Identification of C2H2 ZFPs and Functional Analysis of BRZAT12 under Low-Temperature Stress in Winter Rapeseed (Brassica rapa)

Li Ma et al.

Summary: This study reveals the role of the zinc-finger protein transcription factor gene family in the low-temperature response of winter B. rapa. Through the analysis of gene distribution and expression, it was found that these genes play important roles in regulating plant growth and development and responding to stress. Transgenic experiments show that the BrZAT12 gene may improve the cold resistance of winter B. rapa. In addition, the study also found that BrZAT12 is involved in the ABA signaling pathway with MAPKK. These findings provide a theoretical basis for a deeper understanding of the cold resistance mechanisms in winter B. rapa.

Current Understanding of bHLH Transcription Factors in Plant Abiotic Stress Tolerance

Jianrong Guo et al.

Summary: bHLH proteins are a widespread transcription factor class in eukaryotes, regulating plant developmental and metabolic processes by binding to specific positions on their promoters. They play vital roles in plant responses to abiotic stresses, and future studies and applications of bHLH genes in plant breeding are promising.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Patterns of the C2H2-Zinc Finger Gene Family Related to Stress Responses and Catechins Accumulation in Camellia sinensis [L.] O. Kuntze

Shiyang Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified 134 CsC2H2-ZFP genes in tea plants, which are randomly distributed on 15 chromosomes. The CsC2H2-ZFP gene family was classified into four clades, with similar gene structures and motif compositions within the same clade. The expression patterns showed that CsC2H2-ZFPs responded to different stresses including drought, salt, cold, and MeJA treatment.
