ZIF-8/MWCNT-nanocomposite based-resistive sensor for highly selective detection of acetone in parts-per-billion: Potential noninvasive diagnosis of diabetes

Setareh Homayoonnia et al.

Summary: By incorporating multiwall-carbon-nanotubes into ZIF-8, its sorption capacity for alcohols and acetone can be significantly enhanced. Using a ZIF-8/MWCNT-coated quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor and a chemiresistive sensor, high selectivity for acetone detection can be achieved under ambient conditions, with low humidity response, good repeatability, and rapid response.

Effect of incorporating different ZIF-8 crystal sizes in the polymer of intrinsic microporosity, PIM-1, for CO2/CH4 separation

Mohamed Yahia et al.

Summary: In this study, Zeolitic Imidazole Frameworks (ZIF-8) crystals of different sizes were synthesized and incorporated into the polymer of intrinsic microporosity, PIM-1, to form mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) for effective CO2/CH4 separation. Characterization of MMMs showed that ZIF-8 crystal size greatly influenced gas transport properties, with membranes containing 120 nm ZIF-8 crystals showing the greatest improvement. Aging of the membranes resulted in increased selectivity and decreased permeability, indicating enhanced polymer packing and diffusivity selectivity.
