Summary: Sparse mobile crowdsensing (Sparse MCS) is a new paradigm for urban-scale sensing applications that aims to save sensing costs and obtain high-quality sensing maps by recruiting suitable participants to complete sensing tasks in selected cells and inferring data of unsensed cells. Task assignment is a crucial issue in Sparse MCS, and the research mainly focuses on single participatory-based or single opportunistic-based sensing mode. To achieve a good tradeoff between sensing quality and cost, we propose a task assignment framework based on hybrid sensing modes in Sparse MCS (HSM-SMCS), which simultaneously recruits opportunistic and participatory participants using a heuristic two-stage search strategy. We also design a mobility prediction model based on transfer learning to improve the effectiveness of task assignment for opportunistic participants.

Summary: Anomaly detection of machine tools is crucial in the machinery industry. Deep learning has shown potential in this area, but challenges including the lack of labeled data and noise disturbances still exist. This paper proposes a hybrid robust convolutional autoencoder (HRCAE) to address these challenges and achieves better performance in unsupervised anomaly detection compared to other methods.

Summary: Sparse mobile crowd sensing reduces perception cost by recruiting a small number of users to perceive data from a small number of sub-regions, and then inferring data from the remaining sub-regions. This paper proposes the STGCN-GRU user trajectory prediction algorithm and ADQN user recruitment algorithm, which improve the accuracy of user trajectory prediction and user recruitment, respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed STGCN-GRU algorithm outperforms other representative algorithms in terms of evaluation metrics FDE and ADE, while the ADQN user recruitment algorithm effectively improves the accuracy of data inference under budget constraints.

Summary: Due to the evolution of new media formats, appropriate compression of data becomes paramount. This study proposes a hybrid and robust compression framework named DeepComp, combining deep learning algorithms with traditional Windows archivers to compress both numerical and image data formats. The performance analysis shows that DeepComp outperforms Windows archivers and multilayer autoencoders in terms of compression ratio and reconstruction performance.

Summary: This study proposed a new cell selection approach to further reduce total costs and improve task quality in sparse mobile crowdsensing. By discussing the properties of optimization goals and modeling the problem as a solvable biobjective optimization problem, two selection strategies and a cell selection algorithm were presented. Results showed that the proposed strategies could save sample costs up to 15.2% and reduce inference errors by 16.8%, compared to the baseline approach.
