Monitoring and environmental risk assessment of agricultural fungicide and insecticides in water, sediment from Kumkale Plain, canakkale-Turkey

Zubeyde Nur Top et al.

Summary: This study evaluated pesticide residues in water and sediment samples from Kumkale Plain in canakkale-Turkey using the QuEChERS-LC-MS/MS procedure. The overall recovery rates were 81.66% for sediment and 91.50% for water samples. Chlorpyrifos-M and pyridaben were the most commonly found pesticides in sediment samples, while methoxyfenozide and metalaxyl were the most prominent in water samples. Pyraclostrobin and chlorantraniliprole residues in water exceeded national limits. Despite their safety in terms of hazard quotient, the toxicity of pesticide residues should be given more attention. Authorities should implement strict regulations to reduce health risks associated with these chemicals.

Toxicity mechanism of peri-implantation pesticide beta-cypermethrin exposure on endometrial remodeling in early pregnant mice

Yong -Jiang Zhou et al.

Summary: Beta-cypermethrin, a widely used pyrethroid pesticide, can impair endometrial remodeling in mice, but the mechanism is not well understood. In this study, researchers investigated the mechanism by which peri-implantation beta-cypermethrin exposure reduces uterine remodeling in pregnant mice. They found that beta-cypermethrin decreased the expression of endometrial remodeling markers and inhibited key molecules in the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway. The results suggest that reducing the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway may enhance defective endometrial remodeling induced by beta-cypermethrin exposure.

Hematological, biochemical, genotoxic, and histopathological changes induced by pyridaben

Marwa F. F. Ali et al.

Summary: The present study investigated the genotoxic effects of pyridaben (PDB) in male Sprague Dawley rats. Four groups of rats were exposed to different doses of PDB for 4 weeks. Blood samples, femoral bone marrow, and liver samples were collected for various analyses. The results showed changes in hematological and biochemical parameters, increased gene expression of IL-6 and Casp-3, and histopathological findings in the liver with PDB exposure. However, there was no significant change in chromosomal aberrations.

Occurrence, seasonal variations, and eco-risk of currently using organochlorine pesticides in surface seawater of the East China Sea and Western Pacific Ocean

Hongyuan Zheng et al.

Summary: The study found high levels of organochlorine pesticide residues in water samples from the Western Pacific Ocean and the East China Sea, with different main pollutants in each region. Land-source input was the primary factor in summer, while historical residues played a major role in spring. Ecological risk assessment indicated relatively low risk in both regions during summer.

Assessment of currently used organochlorine pesticides in surface water and sediments in Xiangjiang river, a drinking water source in China: Occurrence and distribution characteristics under flood events

Shengwei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively explored the occurrence and distribution characteristics of currently used organochlorine pesticides (CUOCPs) in surface water and sediments of the Xiangjiang River. The results showed that floods had a stronger impact on water than on sediments, and CUOCPs were dominant in sediments. The occurrence of CUOCPs was significantly affected by external disturbances, such as flood events, and clusters of CUOCPs were found in water and sediments in urban areas. The occurrence of CUOCPs was not positively correlated with nutrient elements but related to pH and dissolved oxygen.

Dinitramine induces implantation failure by cell cycle arrest and mitochondrial dysfunction in porcine trophectoderm and luminal epithelial cells

Junho Park et al.

Summary: The herbicide dinitramine has been found to have reproductive toxicity in porcine cells, including reducing cell viability, triggering cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, disrupting calcium homeostasis, inducing oxidative stress, and altering mitochondrial function. This could potentially affect early pregnancy stages.

Pyridaben leads to inhibition of cell growth and induction of cell death through intracellular mechanisms in early pregnancy

Hyocheol Bae et al.

Summary: The detrimental effects of pesticides on pregnancy, specifically pyridaben, have been studied in pig reproductive cell lines, showing harmful impacts on early pregnancy through inhibition of cell signal transduction and induction of reactive oxygen species production, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis. Autophagy induced by pyridaben may also affect placentation, suggesting potential similar effects in human pregnancy.

Pyridaben induces mitochondrial dysfunction and leads to latent male reproductive abnormalities

Jiyeon Ham et al.

Summary: The study found that pyridaben has negative effects on mouse testicular cells, including inhibiting cell proliferation, disrupting calcium homeostasis, affecting cell cycle, steroidogenesis, and spermatogenesis, as well as dysregulating intracellular signaling pathways. These results indicate that pyridaben can induce testicular toxicity and male reproductive abnormalities through mitochondrial dysfunction, endoplasmic reticulum stress, and calcium imbalance.

Pyridaben induced cardiotoxicity during the looping stages of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos

Jinze Ma et al.

Summary: The study assessed the cardiotoxicity of pyridaben to aquatic organisms using the zebrafish model, showing that it is highly toxic and can cause severe cardiac malformations and functional abnormalities. Pyridaben exposure induced elevated oxidative stress through the WNT signaling pathway, leading to apoptosis in the heart and cardiotoxicity. Exposure at the critical stage of cardiac looping resulted in the greatest cardiotoxicity, with the chorion reducing entry of pyridaben but still causing significant harm.
