Improving luminescence behavior and glass stability of tellurium-doped germanate glasses by modifying network topology

Ling Huang et al.

Summary: By tailoring the glass network topology, the luminescence behavior and glass stability of tellurium-doped germanate glasses can be manipulated. Enhancing the near-infrared luminescence of tellurium by adjusting the topological cages in the glass network structure through varying network modifiers, while significantly improving glass stability by introducing alkaline earth oxides for increased network connectivity.

Near-IR Luminescence of Rare-Earth Ions (Er3+, Pr3+, Ho3+, Tm3+) in Titanate-Germanate Glasses under Excitation of Yb3+

Karolina Kowalska et al.

Summary: This study fabricated multicomponent TiO2-modified germanate glasses co-doped with Yb3+/Ln(3+) (Ln = Pr, Er, Tm, Ho) and demonstrated that the addition of TiO2 significantly enhanced the near-infrared luminescence bands of the glass system. The findings suggest promising applications in optical communications.

Influence of TiO2 concentration on near-infrared luminescence of Er3 thorn ions in barium gallo- germanate glasses

Karolina Kowalska et al.

Summary: The luminescence properties of erbium-doped barium gallo-germanate glasses modified by titanium dioxide for near-infrared luminescence applications were investigated. The 1.5 mm luminescence associated with the 4I13/2 / 4I15/2 transition of Er3+ ions was examined as a function of TiO2 concentration. Spectroscopic and near-infrared laser parameters were determined, including stimulated emission cross-section, luminescence bandwidth, lifetime, quantum efficiency, gain bandwidth, and figure of merit. The results indicate that Er-doped glasses with a molar ratio of GeO2:TiO2 of 1:2 exhibit excellent luminescence properties and can be applied to near-infrared broadband optical amplifiers successfully.

Crystallization of bronze-like perovskite in potassium tantalum germanate glasses: Glass ceramic preparation and its optical properties

Cristiano Ramos da Cunha et al.

Summary: The structural, optical, and luminescent properties of Europium-doped potassium germanate glassy materials were studied with varying tantalum content and nanoscale crystallization of potassium tantalate K2Ta8O21. The migration of Eu3+ ions to tantalum-rich crystalline environments was observed, affecting the chemical microenvironment and emission properties. Glass-ceramics heat-treated for 20 hours showed the highest photoluminescence intrinsic quantum yield, indicating potential for photonic devices and nonlinear optical applications.

Structure and Luminescence Properties of Transparent Germanate Glass-Ceramics Co-Doped with Ni2+/Er3+ for Near-Infrared Optical Fiber Application

Magdalena Lesniak et al.

Summary: The study investigated the structural and luminescent properties of transparent germanate glass-ceramics co-doped with Ni2+/Er3+ for near-infrared optical fiber applications. By modifying germanate glasses with ZnO and controlling additional heat treatment process, transparent glass-ceramics with 11 nm ZnGa2O4 nanocrystals were obtained. The material showed broadband luminescence from 1000-1650 nm with an energy transfer efficiency of 19%, making it a promising candidate for use in broadband luminescence optical fibers.
