Effectuation and causation models: an integrative theoretical framework

Margot Racat et al.

Summary: The entrepreneur's behavior is explained using the grounded cognition theory, examining how and why effectuation and causation serve as complementary models of decision-making. By exploring the concept of offloading, this research aims to deepen our understanding of the entrepreneurial decision-making process and its behavioral outcomes according to effectuation and causation models. It provides theoretical foundations for effectuation and proposes an integrative framework for the entrepreneurial decision-making process, which is critical in the current research landscape.

Progress in partial least squares structural equation modeling use in marketing research in the last decade

Marko Sarstedt et al.

Summary: This paper presents a new analysis of the use of partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) in marketing research, focusing on articles published between 2011 and 2020 in the top 30 marketing journals. The study finds that although researchers are more aware of the when's and how's of PLS-SEM use, there is still some delay in adopting the best practices for model evaluation. Recommendations for future PLS-SEM use, guidelines for its application, and areas of further research interest are provided based on the review results.

Summary: This study combines effectuation and institutional development logics to analyze the impact of effectuation and causation on international network formation and post-entry performance of international new ventures under varying conditions of home market institutional support. How effectuation, causation and bricolage influence the international performance of firms via internationalisation strategy: a literature review

Dafnis N. Coudounaris et al.

Summary: The study explores the impact of effectuation, causation, and bricolage on the international performance of firms. How classical and entrepreneurial brand management increases the performance of internationalising SMEs?

Samuel Yaw Kusi et al.

Summary: Limited research has been conducted on the impact of accumulated international experience and decision-making style on brand orientation in internationalizing SMEs. This study builds a model that incorporates classical and entrepreneurial brand management principles, as well as the firm's applied experience and decision-making logics. Findings from an online survey of 235 internationalizing SMEs suggest that the chosen decision-making logic plays a mediating role between cumulative international experience and international brand orientation. Consequently, managers and planners must carefully select the appropriate approach to international brand management based on the available international firm-specific experience, in order to achieve a strong international brand orientation and superior financial performance.

Ilija Braun et al.

Summary: Employing both causal and effectual decision-making logics ambidextrously leads to positive firm-level outcomes, but the likelihood of entrepreneurs applying this ambidextrous use depends on their reliance on family financial support and the strength of their internal locus of control. Post-entry internationalization speed of SMEs: The role of relational mechanisms and foreign market knowledge

Nadia Zahoor et al.

Summary: Previous research suggests that SMEs can accelerate their internationalization process by utilizing domestic networks with internationally experienced partners. This study examines the relationship between relational mechanisms and post-entry internationalization speed (PIS), finding that foreign market knowledge mediates this relationship. Results show that the acquisition of foreign market knowledge from domestic networks fully mediates the relationship between relational mechanisms and PIS, and this relationship is further strengthened when domestic environmental hostility increases.
