Dependent Task Offloading for Edge Computing based on Deep Reinforcement Learning

Jin Wang et al.

Summary: Edge computing is a promising computing paradigm that brings computation and storage resources to the network edge, reducing service latency and network traffic. Existing studies either lack adaptivity or overlook task dependency. In this work, we propose an intelligent task offloading scheme using off-policy reinforcement learning and a Sequence-to-Sequence neural network to address the task dependency. Experimental results show that our method outperforms existing methods and approximates the optimal solution in latency and energy consumption.

DQN-Based Optimization Framework for Secure Sharded Blockchain Systems

Jusik Yun et al.

Summary: This article proposes a deep network shard-based blockchain scheme that dynamically finds the optimal throughput configuration by analyzing the latency and security-level characteristics of sharded blockchain. Using deep reinforcement learning, the system parameters are optimized to achieve higher TPS and security level by adapting to the network status. Simulation results show that this DQNSB scheme provides a higher TPS compared to existing DRL-enabled blockchain technology while maintaining a high security level.

SharPer: Sharding Permissioned Blockchains Over Network Clusters

Mohammad Javad Amiri et al.

Summary: Scalability remains a major challenge for business adoption of blockchain systems. This research introduces SharPer, a scalable permissioned blockchain system, which efficiently handles cross-shard transactions and provides deterministic safety guarantees. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of SharPer especially in workloads with a low percentage of cross-shard transactions.
