Method To Diversify Cyanine Chromophore Functionality Enables Improved Biomolecule Tracking and Intracellular Imaging

Syed Muhammad Usama et al.

Summary: This study presents a new method for synthesizing heptamethineindocyanine precursors using pyridinium benzoxazole (PyBox) salts. The method is highly efficient and provides access to previously unknown chromophore functionality. The synthesized molecules showed promising properties for protein-targeted tumor imaging and cellular imaging.

Xanthene-Based NIR-II Dyes for In Vivo Dynamic Imaging of Blood Circulation

Diankai Liu et al.

Summary: This study introduces a series of xanthene-based NIR-II dyes, named VIXs, with VIX-4 showing the best performance in terms of fluorescence emission at 1210 nm and high brightness. The dye has been successfully used for dynamically imaging the blood flow of mice, allowing for direct differentiation between arteries and veins and measurement of blood flow volume through videos. The study not only provides an effective tool for high spatial and temporal resolution bioimaging, but also presents a new promising conjugated skeleton for NIR-II dyes.
