How Much Do We Know about Low-Speed Vehicle and Golf Cart Communities and Crashes: A Case Study in Nocatee, Florida

Chennan Xue et al.

Summary: LSV/GC communities are modern residential areas that allow LSVs/GCs to travel within the community. However, the safety impacts of LSV/GC on the community have not been extensively studied and there is a lack of national uniform guidelines for traffic control devices in these communities. This study analyzes fatal crash data and conducts a case study in a large LSV/GC community in Florida to understand the characteristics of LSV/GC fatal crashes and identify areas for improvement in driving behavior, traffic control devices, and community planning. The findings can inform national and state agencies in enhancing safety and livability in LSV/GC communities.

Review of traffic safety evaluation at T-intersections using surrogate safety measures in developing countries context

Someswara Rao Bonela et al.

Summary: In recent years, significant research has been conducted on traffic safety evaluations at unsignalized intersections, particularly T-intersections. The disregard for priority traffic rules and the presence of multiple traffic movements with varied driver behavior create more conflicts and increase the severity of these conflicts. Proactive safety measures and surrogate safety measures like Time to Collision (TTC) and Post Encroachment Time (PET) have been widely studied and applied in traffic safety evaluations. However, further research is needed to understand the suitability of these measures in the context of complex and heterogeneous traffic, especially at T-intersections. This paper critically reviews the recent developments in Surrogate Safety Measures (SSM) and their applications at unsignalized intersections, with a focus on T-intersections. It also highlights the importance of evaluating T-intersection safety with SSM in a developing country context.

Performance analysis of machine learning models for intrusion detection system using Gini Impurity-based Weighted Random Forest (GIWRF) feature selection technique

Raisa Abedin Disha et al.

Summary: To protect the network, resources, and sensitive data, the intrusion detection system (IDS) has become essential. This study utilized machine learning models for intrusion detection and evaluated their performance through offline analysis. The results showed that decision tree performed well, and the use of feature selection technique further improved the performance.
