Discrete multi-objective artificial bee colony algorithm for green co-scheduling problem of ship lift and ship lock

Qian-Qian Zheng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a multi-objective green co-scheduling problem of ship lift and ship lock at the Three Gorges Cascade Hub. A mathematical model of this problem is proposed and solved using a discrete multi-objective artificial bee colony algorithm. Extensive experiments with real data demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other well-known multi-objective algorithms in solving the problem. The analysis under different scenarios shows that considering the synchronous moving process greatly reduces the average waiting time of vessels at the dam.

An exact approach to the generalized serial-lock scheduling problem from a flexible job-shop scheduling perspective

Bin Ji et al.

Summary: This paper explores the general serial-lock scheduling problem from a new methodological angle by proposing a widely applicable model from a flexible job-shop scheduling perspective. The model is capable of optimally solving most instances and shows advantages in solving single-lock scheduling problems compared to other existing methods. Additionally, experiments infer that the proposed FJS model is more suitable for scenarios with high-density water traffic.
