On the basis of source: Impacts of individual differences on multiple-document integrated reading and writing tasks

Summary: This study examines the influence of general skills in both reading and writing on integrated, source-based writing tasks. The results suggest that general knowledge and reading skills contribute to integrated essay performance, but once general writing ability is taken into account, it becomes the strongest predictor of integrated writing scores.
