Graphitic carbon nitride immobilized by palladium was synthesized and characterized. It exhibited excellent catalytic performance in the construction of significant pharmacophores at ambient temperature in water.
Graphitic carbon nitride immobilized by palladium was synthesized through co-precipitation method and characterized unequivocally by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) along with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Application of the same as an efficient catalyst for the construction of significant pharmacophores / intermediates of biopertinent chemical entities, bis(hetero/homoarylidene)-1alkylpiperidin-4-ones, bis(hetero/homoarylidene)cycloalkanones, 3-(2-aryl)-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one, arylidenemalononitriles, arylideneethylcyanoacrylates and arylidenemalonic acids through carbon-carbon double bond formation offered admirable outcomes. The reaction progressed well in water, an environmentally benign solvent besides at ambient temperature. The efficiency of the catalytic progression revealed impressive performance towards recyclability.
