Hydrological Frequency Analysis in Changing Environments Based on Empirical Mode Decomposition and Metropolis-Hastings Sampling Bayesian Models

Guanjun Lei et al.

Summary: The consistency of hydrological sequences is affected by climate change and human activities, leading to significant uncertainty in hydrological frequency analysis results. The study uses the Mann-Kendall test and Hurst coefficient method to identify and test the trend of hydrological series. The empirical mode decomposition is used to obtain the trend component and perform consistency correction, while a Bayesian model with Metropolis-Hastings sampling is constructed to estimate parameters and analyze result uncertainty.

End-effects mitigation in empirical mode decomposition using a new correlation-based expansion model

Mehdi Zare et al.

Summary: Real-time analysis of time-varying data is crucial in mechanical systems. The Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) combines empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and Hilbert transform (HT) to analyze complex signals. This study proposes a correlation-based expansion model to mitigate the end-effect issue in the EMD method.

Efficient Fault Detection of Rotor Minor Inter-Turn Short Circuit in Induction Machines Using Wavelet Transform and Empirical Mode Decomposition

Attiq Ur Rehman et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new approach for detecting inter-turn short-circuit faults in rotor windings using wavelet transformation and empirical mode decomposition. The effectiveness of wavelet transformation in analyzing frequency components and empirical mode decomposition in detecting faults in their early stages is demonstrated through simulation results. The proposed technique is straightforward and reliable, making it suitable for application in wind turbines with simple electrical inputs.

Elastic Net Penalized Quantile Regression Model and Empirical Mode Decomposition for Improving the Accuracy of the Model Selection

Ali S. A. Ambark et al.

Summary: In quantile regression models, various penalization methods, such as ridge, lasso, and elastic net, have been developed to handle problems in ordinary least-squares method. However, when dealing with time series data which are often non-stationary and non-linear, the accuracy of regression models is usually poor, leading to less reliable results. This study proposes the EMD-EnetQR method, which applies the empirical mode decomposition algorithm to time series data and then uses the resulting components in penalized quantile regression models to improve prediction accuracy. Simulation studies and real dataset applications confirm the superiority of the proposed method.
