The Memory and Identity Theory of ICD-11 Complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

Philip Hyland et al.

Summary: The 11th version of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) recognizes complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) as a separate diagnosis from posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). It is defined by six sets of symptoms, three shared with PTSD and three representing disturbances in self-organization. While there is evidence supporting ICD-11 CPTSD, an explanatory theory for its development is still lacking.

Trauma exposure and factors associated with ICD-11 PTSD and complex PTSD in the Lithuanian general population

Monika Kvedaraite et al.

Summary: This study explored the prevalence of PTSD and CPTSD, as well as associated risk factors and trauma disclosure behaviors in a population-based Lithuanian sample. The results indicated that lifetime trauma exposure, sexual assault, and assault with a weapon were significant predictors for both PTSD and CPTSD, with CPTSD group showing greater reluctance to disclose trauma and stronger emotional reactions. The study also validated the Lithuanian ITQ version as a reliable measure for screening PTSD and CPTSD in the general population.

A systematic literature review of factor analytic and mixture models of ICD-11 PTSD and CPTSD using the International Trauma Questionnaire

Enya Redican et al.

Summary: The review discusses evidence from factor analytic and mixture modelling studies on the International Trauma Questionnaire (ITQ) that support the distinctiveness of PTSD and CPTSD. Findings suggest that the ITQ is a valid measure for identifying PTSD and CPTSD symptoms and further research recommendations are provided.
