Summary: Due to the importance of protecting the forebody of a scramjet from severe aerodynamic heating during hypersonic flight, a new cooling system is proposed and investigated in this study. Computational fluid dynamics is used to simulate the lateral and axial coolant jets released from the spike at high-velocity conditions. The primary goal is to find the optimal location for efficient cooling of the nose and spike assembly. The influence of two coolant jets (Carbon dioxide and Helium) on the cooling system mechanism is fully investigated, and different jet configurations are explored to achieve efficient protection for the nose cone during hypersonic flight. Our results show that the presence of the spike on the nose cone decreases pressure on the main body by up to 33% and shifts the maximum pressure to higher angles. The injection of the coolant disk jet at an angle of 55 deg leads to a drop of about 50% in maximum pressure.

Summary: In this article, numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the developing process of large nozzle spray and flame in a constant volume combustion chamber. The effects of nozzle diameter, ambient pressure, and swirl on spray and flame characteristics were analyzed. The results showed that the large nozzle diameter affected the evaporation and propagation of the flame, while increasing ambient pressure and adding swirl accelerated the spray break-up and enhanced the combustion process.

Summary: The main challenge in advancing high-speed automobiles is aerodynamic heating. This study extensively investigates the use of lateral jet for thermal protection. Computational fluid dynamic simulation is used to study the lateral coolant jet at high-velocity conditions. The goal is to find the optimal jet configuration to reduce aerodynamic heating. Different coolant jets (Helium and Carbon dioxide) are investigated and their flow characteristics and fuel penetration mechanisms are analyzed. The thermal load on the nose cone is compared for different configurations. Results show that injecting lateral jet near the spike tip effectively protects the main body by deflecting the bow shock. Carbon dioxide jet with lower diffusivity is more effective in protecting the forebody from severe aerodynamic heating.

Summary: The objective of this study is to model the emission characteristics of hydrogen-enriched natural gas engines (HENGEs) using the multilayer perceptron neural network (MLPNN) and multi-output least squares support vector regression (MLS-SVR) methods. The MLS-SVR algorithm outperforms the MLPNN in accurately predicting the emissions of methane, carbon monoxide, and NOx. The MLS-SVR estimates the experimentally-measured emissions with an average relative deviation of 3.55%, 3.30%, and 4.22% for methane, carbon monoxide, and NOx, respectively.

Summary: The shape of the struts significantly affects the combustion mechanism in scramjet engines. Researchers have found that a semi-circular trailing edge half-wedge strut is the most effective configuration, ensuring better combustion performance. Increasing the inward fuel injection angle improves the mixing performance of the two-strut scramjet combustor.

Summary: Cooperative guidance issues with impact time consensus against a maneuvering target are studied in this article. The expected impact time is not predesigned and is coordinated by multiple missiles using neighboring information. A maximum consensus algorithm is used to generate the impact time consensus command. An analytical cooperative guidance law with bias proportional guidance form is proposed, and the convergence and stability of the algorithm and guidance law are analyzed. A experimental platform is constructed to test the performance of the proposed cooperative guidance strategy, and numerical simulation and experimental results are presented to verify its effectiveness.

Summary: In this research, the usage of an extruded annular nozzle for fuel mixing in the combustion chamber was investigated. The focus was on studying the flow of the fuel jet using three-dimensional simulation. The study connected the mass diffusion mechanism with the fuel mixing of the jet released from the extruded nozzle. The results showed that injecting fuel through the extruded nozzle improved fuel mixing performance in the combustor, especially with the use of coaxial fuel and air jets.

Summary: This paper introduces the use of bump passive control approach to mitigate the shock wave/boundary layer interaction problems in supersonic and hypersonic vehicles. By optimizing the configuration, the performance of the vehicle is improved in terms of minimum separation area and maximum total pressure recovery coefficient. The Kriging model and NSGA-II algorithm are employed to establish the optimized model and analyze the flow field structures. The results show that the optimized model performs better than the baseline condition, with a larger total pressure recovery coefficient and a smaller separation area.

Summary: In this study, the effect of icing phenomenon on the wake characteristics of a vertical-axis wind turbine (VAWT) was investigated using high-fidelity computational fluid dynamics simulation. The results showed that icing caused the leading edge vortex and trailing edge vortex to separate faster, resulting in a steeper drop in the power coefficient. The modes of the transversal component of velocity in clean and icy conditions were found to be more similar, while the modes of the streamwise component showed significant differences.

The characteristics of the robot's spatial positions and poses were analyzed using DH parameters and geometric methods. The workspace for grinding objects was found to be a cylindrical shape with a cross section similar to a symmetric circular sector. The forces produced by the robot system were analyzed using the Newton-Euler method, and the rationality of the force decoupling design was verified. The theoretical analyses were confirmed through theoretical calculations, simulations, and experimental analyses, providing a theoretical foundation for the design, manufacture, and control of the proposed parallel robot system.

Summary: The mixing process between the fuel and air is crucial for the efficient operation of the scramjet engine, and a coaxial injector has been developed and investigated to enhance the mixing process. Numerical approaches have validated the effectiveness of the coaxial injector, showing that it induces a quicker mixing process and has a promising potential for the scramjet engine. The results also indicate that the jet-to-crossflow pressure ratio has a minimal impact on the total pressure recovery coefficient.
