Summary: This paper comprehensively analyzes the moisture damage resistance of asphalt pavement in salt and acid erosion environments based on three scales, namely asphalt binder scale, asphalt-aggregate scale, and asphalt mixture scale. The study finds that acid rain has a stronger corrosion effect and salt and acid solutions aggravate the moisture damage of asphalt pavement. The moisture damage resistance of asphalt-aggregate scale is weaker than that of asphalt binder scale and asphalt mixture scale. Additionally, the rotational viscosity of asphalt binder at 135 degrees C is correlated with the self-healing performance of asphalt pavement.

Summary: This paper investigated the mesoscopic pore characteristics of asphalt mixtures by considering the coupling effects of grading segregation, dynamic pore water, and salt erosion using CT scanning technology. The study found that the variation in porosity was highest in the sample with heavy segregation of coarse aggregate, followed by the sample without gradation segregation, while the sample with heavy segregation of fine aggregate showed the least change. The results also showed that the coordination number exhibited significantly stronger moisture sensitivity compared to other mesoscopic pore parameters.

Summary: The addition of salt storage additive in asphalt mixtures leads to an increase in contact angle values and a decrease in surface free energy values of the asphalt mastic, resulting in poor wettability and reduced affinity with stone. The adhesion under moisture condition is mainly influenced by stone lithology, and shows a negative correlation with the stripping area ratio values from the boiling water test.

Summary: This study investigates the damage mechanism of asphalt under sea salt erosion environment by examining the surface physics, chemistry, and rheology of SBS modified asphalt samples soaked in mixed salt solutions. The results show that the migration of salt from the salt solution into the asphalt leads to decreased cohesion, aging of asphalt, enhanced elastic recovery ability, and rutting resistance. Additionally, improvements in high temperature properties and damage to cracking resistance of the asphalt were observed, all of which had linear relationships with the concentration of the mixed salt solution.

Summary: This study analyzed the effect of organic deicing agents on asphalt rheology and the corresponding mechanism. By measuring rheological indexes, analyzing molecular structure and components of asphalt, and establishing a cation infiltration model, the researchers quantified the diffusion characteristics of the deicing agents. It was found that the corrosion effect of organic deicing agents is less than that of NaCl, and the penetration of their cations in asphalt is more complex, with diffusion contrary to the concentration gradient.

Summary: This study examined the self-healing ability and fatigue life of bitumen under different sodium salt erosion environments using vibration immersion erosion and modified dynamic shear rheology tests, and explained the changes in bitumen performance from a microscopic level. It was found that sodium salt solutions severely weakened the self-healing ability and fatigue life of bitumen, with Na2SO4 having the most prominent effect. The negative impacts of sodium salts on the bitumen's self healing ability and fatigue life were highly synchronized.
