This survey aimed to assess the knowledge needs of recent nurse practitioner graduates during the transition from student to professional practice and provide targeted education to fill these knowledge gaps. The results showed that participating in webinars significantly improved participants' preparedness for entering the workforce.
Transitioning from student to nurse practitioner can be challenging, prompting a need to enhance transition-to-practice education in graduate curricula. This survey aimed to improve the educational curriculum by assessing knowledge needs among recent nurse practitioner graduates for smoother transitions to professional practice. Survey results identified career development, licensure, billing, pharmacology, and di-agnostics as knowledge gaps. Webinar sessions were developed to address these gaps. After webinar participation, surveys after the session showed participants felt significantly more prepared to enter the workforce. Implementing focused webinars is an effective strategy to support a successful transition to practice (c) 2023 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
