Circ_0037078 promotes trophoblast cell proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis by miR-576-5p/IL1RAP axis

Hong Zou et al.

Summary: The study revealed that circ_0037078 expression level is higher in placental tissues of PE patients compared to normal controls, and knocking down circ_0037078 enhances the proliferation, migration, invasion, and angiogenesis of trophoblast cells. Mechanistically, circ_0037078 functions as a sponge for miR-576-5p, leading to increased expression of IL1RAP, which is targeted by miR-576-5p. Further experiments showed that inhibition of miR-576-5p reversed the effects of circ_0037078 knockdown on trophoblast cell behaviors.

Systematic molecular analysis of the human secretome and membrane proteome in gastrointestinal adenocarcinomas

Adeel Ur Rehman et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the human secretome and membrane proteome of gastrointestinal tract adenocarcinomas (GIACs) by examining transcriptomic data from 957 adenocarcinomas of the oesophagus, stomach, colon, and rectum. A small group of genes overexpressed in GIACs, associated with the cytokine-cytokine interaction pathway (CCRI), were identified. Further analysis revealed a potential biomarker, IL1RAP, which was associated with poor overall survival, cancer stemness, and T cell correlations. In vitro validation experiments showed that knockdown of IL1RAP reduced cellular proliferation, migration, and invasiveness. These findings highlight the importance of the human secretome and membrane proteome and suggest IL1RAP as a potential biomarker for cytokine-mediated cancer immunotherapy in gastric carcinoma.

Researchers have validated this epitope-masking resistance model in acute myeloid leukemia and found that decreased epitope density of IL-1RAP leads to resistance to CAR T cells.
