Rapid and efficient adsorption of tetracycline from aqueous solution in a wide pH range by using iron and aminoacetic acid sequentially modified hierarchical porous biochar

Summary: In this study, a modified hierarchical porous biochar was synthesized for the removal of tetracycline from aqueous solution. The biochar exhibited a large surface area, developed pore structure, and abundant functional groups, resulting in high adsorption capacity and fast adsorption equilibrium. The introduction of amino and carboxyl functional groups on the biochar surface expanded the pH range for its application. The adsorption mechanism involved pore filling, surface complexation, H-bond and p-p interaction. The biochar showed promising reusability for tetracycline removal.

Novel recyclable Z-scheme g-C3N4/carbon nanotubes/Bi25FeO40 heterostructure with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic performance towards tetracycline degradation

Summary: In this study, a novel recyclable Z-scheme g-C3N4/carbon nanotubes/Bi25FeO40 (CN/CNT/BFO) heterojunction photocatalyst was successfully fabricated. The mechanism analysis indicated that the CNT mediated Z-scheme heterojunction led to enhanced photocatalytic performance, resulting in outstanding separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs and high redox ability during photocatalysis. The CN/CNT/BFO heterojunction exhibited wide pH adaptability, excellent magnetic recyclability, and stability, showing promising potential for environmental applications.

Insight into the performance and mechanism of persimmon tannin functionalized waste paper for U(VI) and Cr(VI) removal

Iron/titanium oxide-biochar (Fe2TiO5/BC): A versatile adsorbent/photocatalyst for aqueous Cr(VI), Pb2+, F- and methylene blue

Summary: This study reports the use of metal Fe-Ti oxide/biochar composite for simultaneous removal of aqueous Pb2+, Cr6+, F-, and methylene blue (MB). The Fe2TiO5/BC composite showed excellent adsorption and photocatalytic degradation capabilities for the target pollutants. Moreover, it exhibited effective removal of competitive ions in simulated water samples. The study of energy band gaps of Fe2TiO5, BC, and Fe2TiO5/BC provides insights into the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of MB and the potential application in water treatment using metal oxide with smaller band gaps than TiO2.

Advances in preparation, application in contaminant removal, and environmental risks of biochar-based catalysts: a review

Future research directions in biochar-based catalyst production and environmental applications are discussed.

Photocatalytic nanocomposite membranes for high-efficiency degradation of tetracycline under visible light: An imitated core-shell Au-TiO2-based design
