Comparison of two types of xenogeneic matrices to treat single gingival recessions: A randomized clinical trial

Mauro Pedrine Santamaria et al.

Summary: This study compared the use of different xenogeneic matrices in combination with the coronally advanced flap technique for treating single gingival recessions, showing similar outcomes among the three treatment groups at the 6-month follow-up. The addition of collagen matrix or xenogeneic acellular dermal matrix to the procedure resulted in significant gains in gingival thickness compared to the control group.

Single gingival recession associated with non-carious cervical lesion treated by partial restoration and coronally advanced flap with or without xenogenous collagen matrix: A randomized clinical trial evaluating the coverage procedures and restorative protocol

Ingrid Fernandes Mathias-Santamaria et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the use of collagen matrix as an adjunct to coronally advanced flap in treating gingival recession associated with non-carious cervical lesion-combined defects. Results showed no significant difference in CD coverage between CAF and CAF + CM, but CAF + CM group had better outcomes in keratinized tissue width and thickness gain.

Rethinking the decision-making process to treat gingival recession associated with non-carious cervical lesions

Mauro Pedrine Santamaria et al.

Summary: This study critically reviewed treatment protocols for combined soft tissue/tooth defects (CDs) and proposed a new decision-making process based on different classifications of NCCLs. The depth of root surface discrepancy plays a vital role in influencing soft tissue adaptation post-healing and treatment options.
