Determining Optimal Mean Arterial Pressure After Cardiac Arrest: A Systematic Review

Kiran J. K. Rikhraj et al.

Summary: Cerebral autoregulation monitoring to determine patient-specific optimal mean arterial pressure (MAP(OPT)) may enhance cerebral oxygen delivery in post-cardiac arrest patients. However, targeting MAP(OPT) does not consistently lead to improved neurological outcomes. Further research is needed to assess the clinical utility of MAP(OPT)-guided strategies in reducing secondary brain injury and improving neurological outcomes after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC).

Changes in temperature management and outcome after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in United Kingdom intensive care units following publication of the targeted temperature management trial

J. P. Nolan et al.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of the publication of the TTM trial on the trends in temperature management and outcome following admission to UK ICUs for OHCA patients. Results showed higher temperature and increased fever rates in the post-TTM cohort, but no significant change in mortality after adjusting for time trend and variation between critical care units.

Targeting Autoregulation-Guided Cerebral Perfusion Pressure after Traumatic Brain Injury (COGiTATE): A Feasibility Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Jeanette Tas et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility and safety of CA-guided CPP management in TBI patients requiring intracranial pressure monitoring and therapy. The results demonstrate that targeting an individual and dynamic CA-guided CPP is feasible and safe in TBI patients, encouraging further prospective trials powered for clinical outcomes.
