Stress corrosion cracking behavior of high-strength mooring-chain steel in the SO2-polluted coastal atmosphere

Menghao Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the SCC behavior of 21Cr2NiMo steel in SO2-polluted coastal atmospheres and found that it exhibits high susceptibility to SCC in high SO2 contents. The results showed that the addition of SO2 increased the corrosion current, promoted pitting, and led to SCC initiation at corrosion pits.

Evaluation of the simultaneous presence of SO2 and CO as impurities in the carbon capture and storage technology. CO2/SO2/CO cocapture

Beatriz Gimeno et al.

Summary: The impact of CO2-rich mixtures containing SO2 and CO impurities on the transport, injection, and storage of CCS technology was evaluated using experimental data. It was found that in the cocapture mixture, SO2 can overcome or compensate for the negative effect of CO, making it a favorable fluid for CCS, while the negative effect of CO predominates in the emissions mixture. The study did not consider differences in chemical reactivity due to the impurities.

Mitigation pathways impact of climate change and improving sustainable development: The roles of natural resources, income, and CO2emission

Syed Tauseef Hassan et al.

Summary: The use of natural resources accelerates CO(2) emission in Pakistan, worsening environmental quality, but urbanization can improve environmental quality by reducing CO(2) emission levels. The presence of the Environmental Kuznets Curve is confirmed, along with the feedback hypothesis between natural resource use and CO(2) emission, and bidirectional causality between urbanization and the use of natural resources.
