Real-time evolution in the Hubbard model with infinite repulsion

Elena Tartaglia et al.

Summary: We investigate the real-time evolution of the Hubbard model in the limit of infinite coupling, and determine the dynamics of occupation states in the occupation basis by considering the correlations in the tight-binding model. We find simplified expressions for the time evolution of the total density of particles and the two-point functions of spin-full fermions in terms of correlations of the tight binding model.

The one-dimensional Bose gas with strong two-body losses: the effect of the harmonic confinement

Lorenzo Rosso et al.

Summary: We study the dynamics of a one-dimensional Bose gas in the presence of strong two-body losses. The gas undergoes fermionization and exhibits anomalous population depletion under no confinement. The introduction of harmonic confinement accelerates the depopulation and introduces a novel decay regime.

Universal properties of dissipative Tomonaga-Luttinger liquids: Case study of a non-Hermitian XXZ spin chain

Kazuki Yamamoto et al.

Summary: We demonstrate the universal properties of dissipative Tomonaga-Luttinger (TL) liquids in one-dimensional open quantum many-body systems by calculating correlation functions and performing finite-size scaling analysis. The results show that in the weak dissipation regime, the model belongs to the universality class characterized by the complex-valued TL parameter. As the dissipation strength increases, the model becomes massive.

Eightfold way to dark states in SU(3) cold gases with two-body losses

Lorenzo Rosso et al.

Summary: This article studies the quantum dynamics of a one-dimensional SU(3)-symmetric system of cold atoms with two-body losses. The researchers use the representation theory of SU(3), known as the eightfold way, to organize the dark states of dissipative dynamics in terms of generalized Dicke states and demonstrate how they approach dynamically in both weakly and strongly interacting and dissipative regimes. These results are significant for a wide range of alkaline-earth(-like) gas experiments, opening up possibilities for the dissipative preparation and utilization of generalized Dicke states.

Many-body quantum Zeno effect and measurement-induced subradiance transition

Alberto Biella et al.

Summary: This study reveals a sharp phase transition in a many-body system under competing unitary evolution and variable-strength measurements, as a result of the quantum Zeno effect reaching a threshold. Under weak measurements, the entanglement produced by unitary dynamics is protected and enhanced by monitoring, while above a certain threshold, the system is sharply brought into an uncorrelated Zeno state. This transition is invisible to the average dynamics but encoded in rare fluctuations of the stochastic measurement process.

Breakdown of Tan's Relation in Lossy One-Dimensional Bose Gases

I Bouchoule et al.

Summary: This study reveals that the Tan relation breaks down in the one-dimensional Bose gas with contact repulsion for a peculiar class of stationary states. These states, characterized by a rapidity distribution that decreases as 1/|p|^4, exist due to the infinite number of conserved quantities in the system. The rapidity tail in the momentum distribution adds to the usual Tan contact term, and is produced by atom losses leading to ghost singularities in the wave function.

Exact Liouvillian Spectrum of a One-Dimensional Dissipative Hubbard Model

Masaya Nakagawa et al.

Summary: In this study, a one-dimensional dissipative Hubbard model with two-body loss is shown to be exactly solvable. By using a non-Hermitian extension of the Bethe-ansatz method, an exact eigenspectrum of a Liouvillian supemperator is obtained, revealing phenomena such as spin-charge separation and dissipative effects induced by the quantum Zeno effect. This research introduces a new class of exactly solvable Liouvillians of open quantum many-body systems, which can be experimentally tested using ultracold atoms subject to inelastic collisions.

Dynamical Mean-Field Theory for Markovian Open Quantum Many-Body Systems

Orazio Scarlatella et al.

Summary: This study extends the nonequilibrium bosonic dynamical mean-field theory to Markovian open quantum systems and develops a nonperturbative method to solve bosonic impurity problems. By exploring the steady state of a driven-dissipative Bose-Hubbard model, it demonstrates how DMFT captures hopping-induced dissipative processes and their crucial role in determining the properties of the normal phase.

One-dimensional spin-1/2 fermionic gases with two-body losses: Weak dissipation and spin conservation

Lorenzo Rosso et al.

Summary: Theoretical analysis has been conducted on the dynamics of a one-dimensional spin-1/2 fermionic gas with weak two-body losses, emphasizing the role of spin conservation in determining the full time evolution. Specifically, the study focuses on the dynamics of gas in different initial states and investigates the emergence of steady symmetry-resolved purification in Mott insulators. These results contribute to the comprehension of experiments involving alkaline-earth gases and fermionic molecules such as ytterbium.

Losses in interacting quantum gases: Ultraviolet divergence and its regularization

Isabelle Bouchoule et al.

Summary: Our study investigates the impact of losses on an interacting quantum gas, revealing that in dimensions higher than one, the energy increase rate diverges in the presence of a vanishing correlation time of the reservoir and contact interactions. The divergence is regulated by considering the finite energy width of the reservoir, with an expression for the energy increase rate involving the contact parameter provided for large energy widths. Furthermore, we analyze the temperature evolution of a weakly interacting Bose-Einstein condensate under slow losses, considering the regularization of the divergence due to the finite range of interactions between atoms.

Strong correlations in lossy one-dimensional quantum gases: From the quantum Zeno effect to the generalized Gibbs ensemble

Davide Rossini et al.

Summary: This study focuses on strong two-body losses in bosonic gases trapped in one-dimensional optical lattices, utilizing the separation of timescales in a many-body quantum Zeno regime to establish a connection with the theory of time-dependent generalized Gibbs ensemble. The main result is a set of rate equations capturing the simultaneous effects of coherent evolution and two-body losses, providing an accurate description of the dynamics of a gas in a Mott insulating state. The research also discusses the potential observation of these predictions in an experiment with Yb-174 in a metastable state.
