Coal oxidation characteristics and index gases of spontaneous combustion during the heating and cooling processes

Cai-ping Wang et al.

Summary: The study explored the changes during the coal cooling process in a closed fire zone by examining the oxidation characteristics of heating and cooling processes. Results showed that oxygen consumption during the cooling process was higher and related to lower oxygen concentration. Additionally, coal temperature affected the magnitude of apparent activation energy, and oxygen concentration impacted the oxidation activity of coal in the oxidation kinetics of coal.

Study on oxidation and pyrolysis characteristics of lignite damaged by liquid CO2 at low-temperature

Zhuangzhuang Shao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the oxidation and pyrolysis characteristics of lignite damaged by liquid CO2 at low temperature. The results showed that low-temperature L-CO2 leaching altered the pore structure of coal samples, increased the absorption strength and peak area, advanced the combustion characteristics, increased the total heat release, decreased CO content, increased H2O and CO2 content, and had important implications for preventing and controlling coal reburning.

Study on multi field coupling numerical simulation of nitrogen injection in goaf and fire-fighting technology

Wei Wang et al.

Summary: By establishing a multi-field coupling numerical model of nitrogen injection in goaf, this study investigated the variation law of the spontaneous combustion zone in goaf under different nitrogen injection parameters. The results showed that nitrogen injection can reduce the width of the spontaneous combustion zone and temperature extreme value. The effectiveness of nitrogen injection fire prevention technology was verified through engineering application.

Molecular simulation and experimental studies on CO2 and N2 adsorption to bituminous coal

Hongqing Zhu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the adsorption behavior of coal in CO2/N-2 mixed gas to improve the efficiency of inert gas for extinguishing fires. It was found that injecting a small amount of CO2 into pure N-2 greatly increased coal's gas adsorption volume, demonstrating the feasibility of enhancing coal's ability to absorb mixed gases by changing gas concentration to improve the efficiency of inert gas for fire suppression.

Coupling Treatment of Gas Drainage and Nitrogen Injection for Fire Prevention in the First Stratified Mining goaf:Theoretical Calculation and Field Experiment

Yu Hao et al.

Summary: The research showed that the combination of high position borehole drilling, buried pipe in goaf, and nitrogen injection can effectively reduce gas extraction, while stereoscopic gas extraction can increase the width of the oxidation zone. Nitrogen injection in goaf not only reduces gas extraction and oxidation zone width, but also increases the pumping capacity of downwards hole, with good inhibitory effects on spontaneous combustion and gas emission.
