New insight into the mechanism of enhanced photo-Fenton reaction efficiency for Fe-doped semiconductors: A case study of Fe/g-C3N4

Keyan Li et al.

Summary: This study reveals that under visible light, the iron-doped semiconductor catalyst maintains its Fe2+/Fe3+ ratio during photo-Fenton reactions, while this ratio decreases gradually in dark Fenton reactions. It is demonstrated that Fe3+ can capture photo-generated electrons from the semiconductor and revert back to Fe2+ under visible light, sustaining catalytic activity in the process.

Visible light driven Nd2O3/Mo(S,O)3-x•0.34H2O heterojunction for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants

Sleshi Fentie Tadesse et al.

Summary: The research focuses on developing low-cost and visible-light-driven metal oxide and sulfide-based photocatalysts for the degradation of organic dyes to mitigate environmental pollution. The synthesized NdMoOS nanocomposite showed excellent degradation efficiency for model organic pollutants under visible light irradiation due to the formation of heterojunction, high charge separation, and low recombination rate of photoinduced e(-)-h(+) pairs. Superoxide radicals, hydroxyl radicals, and holes were identified as major oxidative species involved in the photocatalytic degradation mechanisms of various dyes.
