Cu clusters/TiO2-x with abundant oxygen vacancies for enhanced electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia

Summary: In this study, Cu clusters homogeneously supported on TiO2 nanosheets with abundant oxygen vacancies were prepared as catalysts for nitrate electroreduction to ammonia. The hybrid catalyst showed improved performance with higher faradaic efficiency and ammonia yield rate compared to the counterpart without oxygen vacancies. Experimental and theoretical results indicated that the oxygen vacancies at the heterogeneous interface between Cu and TiO2-x enhanced nitrate adsorption and optimized hydrogenation, leading to improved efficiency of nitrate electroreduction to ammonia.

Hetero-Interfaces on Cu Electrode for Enhanced Electrochemical Conversion of CO2 to Multi-Carbon Products

Single-atom catalysis for carbon neutrality

This review highlights the importance of advanced single-atom catalysts (SACs) in converting CO2 into efficient carbon energy and introduces energy conversion technologies and devices that can replace polluting fossil fuels, such as photocatalytic and electrocatalytic water splitting. The review concludes with an overview of the challenges and future applications of SACs in contributing to carbon neutrality.
