Prognostic association of frailty with post-arrest outcomes following cardiac arrest: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Fabrice I. Mowbray et al.

Summary: The synthesis of current evidence indicates that frailty is associated with increased in-hospital mortality, decreased incidence of ROSC, and lower likelihood of discharge home following cardiac arrest. Frailty proves to be a robust prognostic factor that can inform decision-making and policies surrounding advance care directives.

Predictive value of pre-arrest albumin level with GO-FAR score in patients with in-hospital cardiac arrest

Seok-In Hong et al.

Summary: Combining pre-arrest serum albumin levels with the GO-FAR score improved the predictive performance for neurological outcomes in in-hospital cardiac arrest patients. Patients were divided into quartiles based on albumin levels and scored accordingly, leading to an enhancement in predictive ability in the albumin-added model. This study demonstrated a significant improvement in predictive performance by incorporating pre-arrest albumin levels into the original GO-FAR score.

A simple ABCD score to stratify patients with respect to the probability of survival following in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation

William R. Swindell et al.

Summary: This study found that age is the strongest predictor of survival following in-hospital cardiac arrest. Obesity was associated with improved survival, while being underweight decreased survival chances. The ABCD score is an efficient tool for risk-stratifying patients and can be calculated in less than 1 minute.

Heterogeneity in functional status among moderately frail older adults: improving predictive performance using a modified approach of subgrouping the Clinical Frailty Scale

Edward Chong et al.

Summary: This study investigates the heterogeneity of functional dependency in moderately frail individuals and the utility of subgrouping the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) 6 based on basic activities of daily living (bADL). The findings suggest that categorizing CFS 6 based on bADL status can improve predictive performance for mortality and institutionalization outcomes.
