Usage of biowashing to remove impurities and heavy metals in raw phosphogypsum and calcined phosphogypsum for cement paste preparation

Junchen Xiang et al.

Summary: This study presents a new method using biowashing to remove impurities in waste phosphogypsum (PG) and investigates its potential in cement paste preparation. The results show that biowashing effectively removes phosphorus, fluorine, and heavy metals in PG, improving the stability and mechanical properties of cement paste. Biowashing mainly removes impurities by converting insoluble impurities into soluble substances through microbial solutions.

Fluorescent hydrogels based on oxidized carboxymethyl cellulose with excellent adsorption and sensing abilities for Ag-

Xiaoyan He et al.

Summary: In this study, a self-healing fluorescent hydrogel based on oxidized carboxymethyl cellulose was developed, which showed promising applications. The hydrogel not only exhibited sensitive detection of Ag+ heavy metal ions but also had high adsorption capacity, and it could be regenerated multiple times without loss of adsorption performance. These characteristics make it a prospective long-lasting adsorbent and provide a new approach for wastewater treatment.

Capacitor performance of MgO-templated carbons synthesized using hydrothermally treated MgO particles

Yuya Kado et al.

Summary: This study utilized hydrothermally treated MgO particles to prepare porous carbons, and evaluation of the electrode materials in electric double-layer capacitors showed that the balanced ratio of micropore volume to mesopore volume in the carbons is crucial for achieving high volumetric capacitance and good rate performance. The prepared porous carbons retained 93% of the initial capacitance after 10000 cycles, indicating their potential for long-term stability and application in energy storage devices.
