Uniformly Frustrated XY Model: Strengthening of the Vortex Lattice by Intrinsic Disorder

Ilaria Maccari et al.

Summary: The presence of disorder in superconducting films can actually strengthen the superconducting state against thermal fluctuations when a transverse magnetic field is applied, resulting in a more robust vortex lattice. This is demonstrated through Monte Carlo simulations on the XY model in two dimensions, showing a non-monotonic relationship between the superconducting critical temperature and the applied field strength.
