Construction of hollow mesoporous ZnMn2O4/C microspheres with carbon nanotubes embedded in shells for high-performance aqueous zinc ions batteries

Summary: Rechargeable zinc-ion batteries have gained attention as a future direction for large-scale energy storage due to their low cost, safety, environmental friendliness, and excellent electrochemical performance. In this study, hollow mesoporous ZnMn2O4/C microsphere cathode material with carbon nanotubes embedded in the shell was prepared for the first time using spray pyrolysis. The material showed high capacity retention and cycle stability, attributed to its hollow structure, excellent porosity, cationic defects, and the high electrical conductivity and strong adsorption of carbon nanotubes.

Ion Sieve: Tailoring Zn2+ Desolvation Kinetics and Flux toward Dendrite-Free Metallic Zinc Anodes

Summary: This study presents an ion sieve coating that effectively inhibits dendrite growth on metallic zinc anodes, improving the rechargeability of aqueous zinc metal batteries. Experimental and theoretical analyses demonstrate that the coating facilitates the desolvation of zinc clusters, weakens hydrogen evolution reaction, and homogenizes ion flux, resulting in dendrite-free zinc deposition. The symmetric cell with the ion sieve coating shows a lifespan of up to 3000 hours, highlighting the enhanced performance of zinc metal batteries.

MIL-96-Al for Li-S Batteries: Shape or Size?

The effect of intercalation chemistry on the synthesis and modification of TMD nanosheets is discussed, considering lattice strain, interlayer distance, and carrier density. The review concludes with a prospectus on future research opportunities in the intercalation chemistry of 2D materials.

In Situ Synthesis of MOF-74 Family for High Areal Energy Density of Aqueous Nickel-Zinc Batteries
