Effectiveness and Safety of Direct Oral Anticoagulants Versus Warfarin in Patients With Valvular Atrial Fibrillation A Population-Based Cohort Study

Summary: In a retrospective cohort study, new users of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in patients with valvular atrial fibrillation (AF) had lower risks of ischemic stroke or systemic embolism, as well as major bleeding, compared to new users of warfarin. constsistent results were found for apixaban and rivaroxaban, but not dabigatran in terms of effectiveness and safety outcomes.
