A low-cost hole transport layer enables CsPbI2Br single-junction and tandem perovskite solar cells with record efficiencies of 17.8 % and 21.4 %

Yuanjia Ding et al.

Summary: Among inorganic perovskites, CsPbI2Br shows great potential for single-junction perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and perovskite/organic tandem solar cells (TSCs) due to its intrinsic thermal stability, suitable bandgap, and superior phase-stability. This study demonstrates that using PTQ10 as a hole transport layer (HTL) for PSCs and an inter-connecting layer (ICL) for TSCs can significantly improve the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of CsPbI2Br-based devices. The PTQ10 HTL exhibits better energy level matching with CsPbI2Br and can passivate the perovskite surface, leading to enhanced performance in both PSCs and TSCs.

Efficient and stable perovskite solar cells via shortwave infrared polymer passivation

Jian Xiong et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the utilization of a narrow bandgap conjugated polymer as a passivation agent in perovskite solar cells (PSCs), leading to improved crystallinity and smoothness of the films, as well as enhanced efficiency and stability of the devices. The polymer interactions with Pb defects in the films played a crucial role in promoting these improvements.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Summary: In this study, the polymer PNDI-2T was used as a dopant and surface passivant in inverted perovskite solar cells, leading to improved homogeneity, surface coverage, electron mobility, and energy level matching in the ETL. Additionally, as a passivant, PNDI-2T helped to suppress ion migration and diffusion of metal species from the electrodes, resulting in enhanced efficiency and long-term stability of PSCs.
