Pesticide residues in pistachio nut: a human risk assessment study

Majid Arabameri et al.

Summary: This study investigated pesticide residues in pistachio samples from an important production zone in Iran and conducted a dietary risk assessment. The results showed that the average levels of each pesticide exceeded the limit of quantification in 71.4% of the samples and exceeded the maximum residue limit set by the European Union in 14.2% of the samples. Two pesticides exceeded the maximum residue limit.

The concentration and health risk assessment of trace elements in commercial soft drinks from Iran marketed

Nabi Shariatifar et al.

Summary: This study assessed the concentration of trace elements in 150 commercial soft drinks in Iran and compared the results with the permissible limits for drinking water set by international and Iranian standards. The target hazard quotient index for toxic elements was found to be significantly lower than the safe risk limits.

Hadi Eghbaljoo-Gharehgheshlaghi et al.

Summary: This study determined the concentrations of 12 trace metals in sesame seeds from different varieties purchased in markets in Iran, and assessed the associated risk. The results showed that most sesame seed samples had trace metal levels below the standard limits, and consuming sesame seeds did not pose significant health risks.

Analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls in cream and ice cream using modified QuEChERS extraction and GC-QqQ-MS/MS method: A risk assessment study

Saeed Shahsavari et al.

Summary: The concentrations of non-dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (NDL-PCBs) in cream and ice cream samples from Tehran were measured using the QuEChERS-GC-QqQ-MS/MS method. Results showed higher concentrations of total 6NDL-PCBs in cream compared to ice cream. Estimated daily intake and cancer risk levels were found to be within acceptable limits. Monte Carlo simulation revealed lower incremental lifetime cancer risk levels for PCB compounds in ice cream and cream.

Abbas Mehraie et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the levels of six PAEs in four types of bottled water, with carbonated water having the highest total PAE concentration and non-carbonated water the lowest. Calculations based on THQ values indicated that DEHP poses unlikely non-carcinogenic risks to consumers.

The Concentration and Probabilistic Health Risk of Potentially Toxic Elements (PTEs) in Edible Mushrooms (Wild and Cultivated) Samples Collected from Different Cities of Iran

Hadis Karami et al.

Summary: This study investigated the concentrations of PTEs in different types of mushrooms collected from the market in Iran, and established a health risk assessment using the MSC method. While the concentrations of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn exceeded the standard levels, only the ingestion of Hg in wild mushrooms posed a non-carcinogenic risk for children. Overall, the consumption of mushrooms did not raise significant health concerns related to non-carcinogenic risks from PTEs.
