Spin-Induced Black Hole Scalarization in Einstein-Scalar-Gauss-Bonnet Theory

Emanuele Berti et al.

Summary: In a certain class of models, black hole solutions with spin-induced scalarization can be constructed, which may violate the Kerr rotation bound. For the quadratic coupling considered, solutions with spin-induced scalarization are entropically favored over Kerr solutions.

Spin-Induced Scalarized Black Holes

Carlos A. R. Herdeiro et al.

Summary: A recently study shows that a scalar field coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet invariant can experience a spin-induced linear tachyonic instability near a Kerr black hole, only when the dimensionless spin j is greater than or equal to 0.5. Results demonstrate that black hole solutions do have scalar hair once the spin-induced instability threshold is exceeded, supporting the idea of spin-induced black hole scalarization.

Impact of the PSR J0740+6620 radius constraint on the properties of high-density matter

Isaac Legred et al.

Summary: The X-ray pulse profile modeling of PSR J0740+6620 using data from NICER and XMM-Newton observatories has led to a measurement of its radius, providing insight into the neutron star equation of state (EoS). The analysis mildly disfavors EoSs supporting a disconnected hybrid star branch and reveals core matter with strong interactions violating the conformal sound-speed bound. Results suggest a relatively stiff EoS and limit the density range probed by observations of cold, non-rotating neutron stars in beta-equilibrium.

Anisotropic compact stars in f(R) gravity

G. G. L. Nashed et al.

Summary: A new interior solution for stellar compact objects in f(R) gravity is derived, representing a physically motivated anisotropic neutron star model. By matching with a boundary exterior solution and considering physical conditions, the model's consistency and stability are ensured.

Gravity with a generalized conformal scalar field: Theory and solutions

Pedro G. S. Fernandes

Summary: This theory extends general relativity through conformal coupling with a scalar field, incorporating a scalar-Gauss-Bonnet sector and featuring second-order equations of motion belonging to the Horndeski class. The theory includes a purely geometrical field equation, allowing for easy identification of closed-form black hole solutions and cosmologies without the need for approximations or numerical methods.

Plebanski-Demianski solutions in quadratic gravity with conformally coupled scalar fields

Adolfo Cisterna et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the Plebanski-Demianski spacetime remains a solution of general relativity when supplemented with both a conformally coupled scalar theory and quadratic curvature corrections. The research also involves obtaining new hairy black hole solutions and analytically extending specific metric spacetimes to produce healthy asymptotically AdS wormhole configurations.
