Effectiveness of intrapartum fetal surveillance to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes: a systematic review and network meta-analysis

Bassel H. Al Wattar et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of different types of intrapartum fetal surveillance on emergency cesarean deliveries. The findings suggest that intermittent auscultation may reduce the risk of emergency cesarean deliveries compared to other methods without increasing adverse outcomes for neonates and mothers.

Non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns: Is it a risk factor for long- term pediatric cardiovascular diseases of the offspring?

Noa Leybovitz-Haleluya et al.

Summary: This study compared the long-term effects of non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns on pediatric cardiovascular morbidity risk in offspring. The analysis found that there was no significant association between non-reassuring fetal heart rate patterns and the risk for subsequent cardiovascular morbidity in children.

Relationship Between Umbilical Cord Gas Values and Neonatal Outcomes Implications for Electronic Fetal Heart Rate Monitoring

Grace J. Johnson et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between umbilical artery cord gas values and fetal tolerance of labor, and found a weak statistical correlation between umbilical artery pH and base excess with Apgar scores. The results demonstrate a weak correlation between metabolic acidemia and short-term fetal condition, indicating that improving FHR pattern interpretation to predict newborn pH may not lead to improved newborn outcomes in the future.
