A universal method to easily design tough and stretchable hydrogels

Chisa Norioka et al.

Summary: This paper presents a universal strategy for preparing tough and stretchable hydrogels by adjusting polymerization conditions to increase polymer chain entanglements for energy dissipation. The balance between physical and chemical cross-links is optimized by utilizing entanglements and covalent bonds, respectively, leading to improved mechanical performance of hydrogels for wide practical use.
