Vitamin B12 and gestational diabetes mellitus: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the relationship between vitamin B-12 and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). The results showed that low vitamin B-12 concentration in the second or third trimester of pregnancy was associated with an increased risk of GDM. Vitamin B-12 deficiency was also found to increase the risk for GDM. Additionally, an increased ratio of high folate to low vitamin B-12 in serum was associated with an increased risk of GDM.

Additionally, BBR can reduce the metabolic burden of the liver by inhibiting fat synthesis and promoting lipid decomposition, ultimately enhancing fat uptake in peripheral tissues.

Dietary phosphatidylcholine affects growth performance, antioxidant capacity and lipid metabolism of Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis)

Summary: The study showed that dietary phosphatidylcholine (PC) levels have positive effects on the growth performance, antioxidant capacity, and lipid metabolism of juvenile Eriocheir sinensis. Moderate PC supplementation improved feed conversion ratio, enhanced antioxidant capacity, reduced lipid peroxidation, and promoted protein deposition while reducing total lipid contents in the body. Additionally, appropriate PC levels facilitated the deposition of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in both muscle and hepatopancreas. The study suggested an optimal PC requirement of 2.89% - 2.95% of the diet by weight for juvenile E. sinensis based on weight gain and specific growth rate.
