Non-nucleoside structured compounds with antiviral activitydpast 10 years (2010e2020)

Marta Denel-Bobrowska et al.

Summary: This review provides an overview of synthetic antiviral agents not associated with nucleosides that have been developed and introduced to preclinical and clinical trials for human viruses over the last decade. The compounds are classified based on their antiviral mechanism of action and the article briefly summarizes their biological targets and clinical applications. Understanding the activity of drugs against specific molecular targets is key to researching new antiviral compounds and repurposing approved drugs for clinical use. The paper also discusses the future directions of antiviral therapy.

The Impact of Solvent Quality on the Heck Reaction: Detection of Hydroperoxide in 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP)

Qiaogong Su et al.

Summary: The unexpected presence of NMP-5-OOH in the cosolvent NMP led to oxidation of the ligand P(o-tol)(3) and subsequently slowed down the Heck reaction, prompting control strategies for NMP quality and air exclusion during manufacturing campaigns. This ensured successful delivery of compound 2 for clinical studies.

Discovery of a Fungicide Candidate Targeting Succinate Dehydrogenase via Computational Substitution Optimization

Hua Li et al.

Summary: Through computational substitution optimization method, we discovered a potent fungicide candidate 17c, which exhibited high protective activity against southern corn rust, soybean rust, and rice sheath blight at a very low dosage. Field trials indicated that 17c is comparable to or even better than commercial fungicides against soybean rust and cucumber powdery mildew at 50 mg/L concentration.
