Sulfur vacancies-induced Electron Bridge in Ni4Mo/Sv-ZnxCd1-xS regulates electron transfer for efficient H2-releasing photocatalysis

Xin Zhang et al.

Summary: Through a defect-induced heterojunction constructing strategy, Ni4Mo alloys were grown on sulfur vacancies-rich ZCS via interfacial Ni-S covalent bonds, resulting in enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate and stability. The unsaturated sulfur atoms induced by sulfur vacancies facilitate the anchoring of Ni-Mo nanoparticles and the formation of abundant Ni-S covalent bonds, enabling efficient photoelectron transfer and activation of water molecules. The optimized Ni4Mo/Sv-ZCS composite exhibits significantly higher PHE rate compared to Pt/ZCS and Ni4Mo/ZCS, indicating the potential of constructing sulfur vacancies and covalent bonds as an electron bridge to enhance PHE activity.

Electrodeposition synthesis of high performance MoO3-x@Ni-Co layered double hydroxide hierarchical nanorod arrays for flexible solid-state supercapacitors

Hongbo Zhang et al.

Summary: Layered MoO3 has been widely studied as a pseudocapacitive material, but its low conductivity and irreversible phase transition limit its application in supercapacitors. This study proposes a new strategy to construct flexible electrode materials by obtaining hierarchical MoO3-x@NCLDH with oxygen vacancy. The hierarchical structure provides more responsive sites for pseudocapacitance reaction and shortens the ion transportation path, while the NCLDH wrapping and introduction of oxygen vacancies improve the structural stability and electrical conductivity. The obtained MoO3-x@NCLDH electrode exhibits excellent capacitance and retention in the neutral electrolyte, and the symmetric flexible solid-state supercapacitor shows good flexibility and energy density.
