An experimental view on shape coexistence in nuclei

Paul E. Garrett et al.

Summary: In this article, an overview of experimental investigations of nuclear shape coexistence is provided, with a focus on the most actively investigated regions in the past decade. The article summarizes the experimental signatures for assessing shape coexistence and discusses the evidence from experimental results, particularly in regions where its presence has been suggested along isotopic or isotonic chains, and in emerging regions with indications for multiple shape coexistence.

Deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum with a point-coupling functional. II. Examples of odd Nd isotopes

Cong Pan et al.

Summary: This paper extends the point-coupling DRHBc theory to odd -A and odd-odd nuclei and examines its applicability by calculating the ground-state properties of odd -A Nd isotopes. The results show good agreement with experimental data, paving the way for constructing a DRHBc mass table that includes all even-even, odd -A, and odd-odd nuclei in the nuclear chart.

Nuclear landscape in a mapped collective Hamiltonian from covariant density functional theory

Y. L. Yang et al.

Summary: The nuclear landscape is investigated using the PC-PK1 density functional within the triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory, taking into account beyond-mean-field dynamical correlation energies with a five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian. The results show a better description of experimental binding energies compared to previous calculations with other density functionals. The inclusion of dynamical correlation energies plays a crucial role in the improved performance of the PC-PK1 functional in extending the nuclear landscape.

Microscopic analysis of prolate-oblate shape phase transition and shape coexistence in the Er-Pt region

X. Q. Yang et al.

Summary: The study uses a five-dimensional collective Hamiltonian to analyze the shape transition and possible low-energy shape coexistence in six even-even isotopic chains, showing a transition from prolate to oblate or triaxial shapes as neutron number increases. Model calculations reproduce empirical isotopic trends and reveal a rapid shape transition in certain isotopic chains, as well as signature for rigid triaxial deformation in transitional isotopes. The calculated low-lying spectra for specific nuclei demonstrate notable multishape coexistence.

Onset of triaxial deformation in 66Zn and properties of its first excited 0+state studied by means of Coulomb excitation

M. Rocchini et al.

Summary: The electromagnetic structure of Zn-66 at low excitation energy was investigated using low-energy Coulomb excitation, extracting reduced transition probabilities and monopole transition strength. The results show that Zn-66 cannot be described by simple collective models, requiring advanced calculations to interpret its structure.
