High-Fidelity and Low-Cost Hyperparallel Quantum Gates for Photon Systems via ?-Type Systems

Fang-Fang Du et al.

Summary: In this study, two high-fidelity and low-cost protocols are proposed for implementing polarization-spatial hyperparallel controlled-not (CNOT) and Toffoli gates on photon systems. The protocols only require a small number of polarization-polarization swap (P-P-SWAP) gates, significantly reducing the cost of quantum gate construction. The unique auxiliary atom in these gates acts as a temporary quantum memory, eliminating the need for initialization and measurement.

Faithful and efficient hyperentanglement purification for spatial-polarization-time-bin photon system

Fang-Fang Du et al.

Summary: We propose a faithful and efficient hyperentanglement purification protocol for nonlocal two-photon systems in spatial-polarization-time-bin hyperentangled Bell states. The parity-check gates and swap gates in our protocol work faithfully in the spatial, polarization, and time-bin mode degrees of freedom, detecting and heralding undesirable properties caused by side leakage and finite coupling strength. The faithful parity-check gates correct qubit-flip errors efficiently in three degrees of freedom and the faithful swap gates enable the reuse of photon pairs, significantly increasing the efficiency of our hyperentanglement purification protocol. In principle, maximal hyperentanglement can be achieved by operating multiple rounds of the protocol.

Universal quantum gates for path photonic qubit

R. C. Souza et al.

Summary: This study focuses on codifying qubits in the internal degrees of freedom of light, especially in the path degree of freedom, and presents a linear optical circuit design for encoding qubits on different bases. Geometrical representations for path degree of freedom, such as the Poincare-like sphere and Bloch sphere, were introduced. The designed linear optical circuits were used to construct universal quantum gates for photonic propagation path degree of freedom, with experimental simulations matching predictions of quantum theory.

Error-detected three-photon hyperparallel Toffoli gate with state-selective reflection

Yi-Ming Wu et al.

Summary: We propose an error-detected hyperparallel Toffoli gate for a three-photon system based on the interface between polarized photon and cavity-nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center system. This gate can simultaneously perform double Toffoli gate operations on both the polarization and spatial-mode degrees of freedom with low decoherence and less quantum resources required. It achieves near-unit fidelity by transforming imperfect cavity-NV-center interactions into detectable failures based on a heralding mechanism. The gate efficiency is further improved by recycling the procedures, and the evaluation with achieved experiment parameters shows its feasibility and potential as a building block for quantum compute.

Scheme for implementing nonlocal high-fidelity quantum controlled-not gates on quantum-dot-confined electron spins using optical microcavities and photonic hyperentanglement

Yu-Hong Han et al.

Summary: In this paper, a potentially practical scheme for implementing nonlocal quantum controlled-not (CNOT) gate operations on quantum-dot-confined electron spins between two quantum network nodes is presented. The scheme utilizes hyperentangled photon pairs to establish a quantum channel, enabling parallel teleportation of two nonlocal quantum CNOT gates simultaneously and improving channel capacity and operational speed. The scheme is efficient, robust, and can be used as a universal module for other quantum information processing tasks.

Quantum computation using action variables

Yong Zhang et al.

Summary: In 2014, Lloyd and Montangero proposed a brief research on universal quantum computation in integrable systems. They suggested encoding qubits as quantum action variables and constructing quantum gates through resonant control. This proposal explores using action variables for fault-tolerant quantum computation, with fault tolerance guaranteed by the quantum KAM theorem. Additionally, the Birkhoff norm form is viewed as a mathematical framework for extended harmonic oscillator quantum computation.

Optical properties of a waveguide-mediated chain of randomly positioned atoms

Guo-Zhu Song et al.

Summary: We theoretically studied the optical properties of an ensemble of two-level atoms coupled to a one-dimensional waveguide, finding that the transport properties are affected by lattice constant and filling factor. Additionally, we observed initial bunching and quantum beats in the photon-photon correlation function of the transmitted field, which are significantly influenced by the filling factor of the lattice sites. Our results should be experimentally realizable in the near future with the advancement of interfacing quantum emitters with nanophotonics.
