The Structure of the Potato Virus A Particles Elucidated by Small Angle X-Ray Scattering and Complementary Techniques

Eleonora V. Shtykova et al.

Summary: The research on PVA virus particles revealed structural changes after removing 32 amino acid residues and highlighted the importance of the CP N-terminal domain for vital functions of PVA. The study used experimental and modeling methods to elucidate the structure of PVA virus under conditions close to natural, providing insights for developing strategies against this plant pathogen.

A Replicating Viral Vector Greatly Enhances Accumulation of Helical Virus-Like Particles in Plants

Eva C. Thuenemann et al.

Summary: The use of the pEff system for producing plant helical virus-like particles results in greater quantities and efficiency, particularly in generating VLPs from different virus families. The replicating RNA from pEff acts as a scaffold for VLP assembly, as shown in the analysis of AltMV and tobacco mosaic virus VLPs.

Thermal remodelling of Alternanthera mosaic virus virions and virus-like particles into protein spherical particles

Tatiana I. Manukhova et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the thermal transition of filamentous Alternanthera mosaic virus virions into spherical particles for the first time, showing differences in formation conditions and structural characteristics between these particles and virus-like particles. The modified particles were found to consist of proteins without RNA and have potential applications as protein platforms for presenting target molecules and designing functionally active complexes.
