The role of episodic memory in imagining autobiographical events: the influence of event expectancy and context familiarity

Can Fenerci et al.

Summary: Episodic memory plays a vital role in constructing mental representations of past and imagined autobiographical events. Factors such as event expectancy and context familiarity affect how episodic memory is engaged and the subjective experience during event imagination. These factors also affect the episodic detail and subjective quality of the imagined events.

Bootstrap Confidence Intervals for Multilevel Standardized Effect Size

Mark H. C. Lai

Summary: This paper discusses the use of bootstrap as an alternative method for obtaining confidence intervals for multilevel standardized mean difference effect size in cluster-randomized trials. A simulation comparing 17 analytic and bootstrap procedures showed that residual bootstrap with studentized CI had the best coverage rates overall, while the same method with basic CI performed better in small samples. These procedures demonstrated better coverage than using analytic methods for both normal and nonnormal data, emphasizing the importance of reporting confidence intervals for conveying uncertainty in effect size estimates.
