Multinucleon transfer mechanism in 250Cf+232Th collisions using the quantal transport description based on the stochastic mean-field approach

S. Ayik et al.

Summary: Production cross sections of heavy neutron-rich isotopes are calculated using quantal transport description in 250Cf +232Th collisions. This approach, based on the stochastic mean-field approach, goes beyond time-dependent Hartree-Fock theory by including mean-field fluctuations. The deexcitation of primary fragments is determined using the statistical GEMINI++ code. The calculations provide predictions for the production cross sections of neutron-rich transfermium isotopes without the use of adjustable parameters.

Production of proton-rich nuclei in the vicinity of 100Sn via multinucleon transfer reactions

Zhenji Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, the production of new proton-rich nuclei near Sn-100 is investigated using TDHF and GEMINI++ models. Multinucleon transfer reactions are shown to have much higher production cross sections compared to fusion-evaporation and projectile fragmentation experiments. It is predicted that 19 new proton-rich isotopes can be produced through multinucleon transfer reactions of Ni-58 with Sn-112.

How to approach the island of stability: Reactions using multinucleon transfer or radioactive neutron-rich beams?

Long Zhu et al.

Summary: This study provides the first direct comparison of multinucleon transfer (MNT) and radioactive beam induced fusion-evaporation (FE) reactions in producing neutron-rich superheavy nuclei, especially the predicted double magic isotope (298)Fl. The results show that both MNT and FE processes are comparable in producing (298)Fl. The uncertainties in shell structures weakly influence the production cross section of (298)Fl, although double shell closures can enhance its stability.

Production of unknown neutron-rich isotopes with Z=99-102 in multinucleon transfer reactions near the Coulomb barrier

Na Tang et al.

Summary: Multinucleon transfer reactions offer a potential pathway for the synthesis of new neutron-rich isotopes. By using a hybrid model that combines the dinuclear system model and the GRAZING model, the transfer reaction in Kr-86 +(24)8Cm is investigated and found to reproduce experimental results well. Further investigations show that different reactions can selectively produce neutron-rich or neutron-deficient nuclei.

Theoretical study on the production of neutron-rich transuranium nuclei with radioactive beams in multinucleon transfer reactions

Jing-Jing Li et al.

Summary: This study investigates the production of neutron-rich transuranium nuclei with Z = 93-98 in multinucleon transfer reactions induced by radioactive beams using a theoretical model and decay code. The theoretical calculations are able to reproduce the experimental results well, showing the dominance of N/Z ratio equilibration and driving mechanisms in the nucleon transfer process.

Optimal ways to produce heavy and superheavy nuclei

G. G. Adamian et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the optimal reactions for producing superheavy nuclei and reviews fusion models. It presents the dependence of calculated evaporation residue cross sections on predicted nuclear properties and suggests reactions to produce nuclei with Z = 119 and 120, as well as unknown isotopes of superheavy nuclei. The predicted evaporation residue cross sections for future experiments are provided, and the relationship between self-consistent methods and microscopic-macroscopic approaches is considered.

Reaction mechanism study for multinucleon transfer processes in collisions of spherical and deformed nuclei at energies near and above the Coulomb barrier: The 16O + 154Sm reaction

B. J. Roy et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of deformation on multinucleon transfer reactions in the O-16 + Sm-154 system. Experimental and theoretical analyses are performed to understand the reaction mechanism and shed light on the role of deformation. The results indicate that there is a reasonable agreement between calculations and measurements for a-few-nucleon transfers at low energies, while the calculations may underestimate cross sections for many-nucleon transfers. Furthermore, the calculations qualitatively explain the observed isotopic distributions at high energies, but there might be an underestimation of excitation energies.

Production of neutron-rich N=126 nuclei in multinucleon transfer reactions: Comparison between 136Xe+198Pt and 238U+198Pt reactions

K. Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that the production cross sections for n-rich N=126 residual fragments are several times larger in the U-238 + Pt-198 reaction system than in the Xe-136 + Pt-198 system due to larger cross sections and lower excitation energies of primary fragments. In both systems, N=126 semi-magic residues are produced via neutron emission in the decay of primary fragments, surviving in semi-central collisions with lower excitation energies.

Unified description of fusion and multinucleon transfer processes within the dinuclear system model

Long Zhu et al.

Summary: By comparing fusion-evaporation (FE) and multinucleon transfer (MNT) approaches in the reaction Ca-48 + U-238, a unified description of FE and MNT processes is achieved within the (DNS) model. It is found that a compact configuration enhances fusion probability and the FE process shows great advantages in producing Cn isotopes and superheavy elements beyond oganesson. Additionally, experimental production cross sections of isotopes in FE and MNT processes can be simultaneously reproduced.

Effects of nucleus orientation on transfer process and production of unknown neutron-rich isotopes with Z=62-75 in 204Hg + 232Th based on the dinuclear system model

Xin-Rui Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of driving potentials in different orientation configurations in the Kr-86 + Er-166 and Hg-204 + Th-232 reactions. It is found that the Coulomb potential predominantly affects the driving potential in the mass number range of 52-200, while the nuclear potential becomes significant for mass numbers outside this range. In the Hg-204 + Th-232 reaction, the tip-to-tip configuration leads to the production of unknown neutron-rich isotopes due to the inverse quasifission process. The optimal incident energy is determined to be 678.1 MeV.
