Designing strategies of small-molecule compounds for modulating non-coding RNAs in cancer therapy

Rongyan Zhao et al.

Summary: Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is a class of RNA molecules transcribed from the genome but not encoding proteins. Recent studies have shown that ncRNAs can be druggable targets for cancer therapy due to their complex spatial structures and biological functions. This review summarizes new designing strategies, such as high-throughput screening and structure-based designing, and highlights representative small-molecule compounds that modulate or selectively target ncRNAs in different types of human cancers.

Targeting lncRNAs in programmed cell death as a therapeutic strategy for non-small cell lung cancer

Yanqin Luo et al.

Summary: Lung cancer, particularly non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), is a major cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), which are non-protein-coding RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides, play a crucial role in the development and progression of NSCLC. Programmed cell death (PCD) is the main mechanism leading to tumor cell death in most cancer treatments, and recent studies have shown that lncRNAs are closely associated with PCD and can regulate various death pathways in NSCLC. This review focuses on the function of lncRNAs in PCD of NSCLC and summarizes the therapeutic role of targeting lncRNAs in PCD for NSCLC treatment.
